Canon City High School Link Crew
TIGER PRIDE LINK CREW’S FRESHMAN SURVIVAL GUIDE
- Get involved! Find something you like to do and do it. Do not limit yourself.
- Stay true to yourself. Stay focused on what is best for you.
- In the end, family and academics mean more than relationships and friends.
- You are never alone.
- Take each day as it comes. Be in the moment.
- Step out of your comfort zone. Go to activities and events. Have fun!
- Keep your health a top priority. Relaxing is part of that priority.
- Do not confine yourself to one group of people.
- Anticipate that your friends could change over four years of high school.
- Pay attention during orientation to learn the names of hallways, teachers, and the room-numbering system.
- Ask for help if you need it, and it is smart to ask questions in class.
- Be kind to everyone. Do not judge others.
- Challenge yourself.
- Drama is the name of a high school course, not a way of life.
- Look for balance. Too many hard classes in one semester can be too stressful.
- Find at least one person whom with you can share your feelings and anxieties.
- You do not have to know who you are yet, but you should know who you are not.
- Do not procrastinate. Be in class and stay up with coursework—falling behind hurts.
- However, one bad grade is not the end of the world.
- Concurrent Enrollment is easier than you think and well worth the effort.
- Upperclassmen are not scary.
- High school is the first step in your journey, not the last.
